Abstract

PURPOSE: To weld the narrow gap part of intricate construction efficiently and surely by connecting a welding torch rotatably with respect to a welding head.
CONSTITUTION: In narrow gap welding of a main pipe and a branch pipe or the like of which the centerlines are curves displacing horizontally and vertically, a swiveling ring 23 is inserted into a boss 29 provided to a welding torch 20, and this ring 23 is inserted onto a welding head 30 to support the torch 20 freely rotatably by the head 30. A copying plate 27 of a U-shaped formed roughly at the same width as groove width is mounted to the side wall in the rear part in a rear end part with respect to the moving direction of 22 of the lower part of the torch 20 to position the torch 20 always correctly with respect to the groove. In lieu of this or in addition of this, guide plates 27a of a heat shape are mounted to the front and rear part side walls.
