Abstract

PURPOSE: To very simply manufacture various kinds of products with high accuracy and high quality, by necking one end of a blank pipe, by inserting a mandrel consisting of a large diameter middle zone and small diameter both ends, and another mandrel in diameter equal to the said small diameter of the former mandrel, into the blank pipe, and then, by forcing the blank pipe to pass through a die.
CONSTITUTION: A blank pipe 5 is held by a stopper 6, and a die 1 is axially pushed forward in order to form a pipe 5'. A mandrel 10 is inserted into this pipe 5' which is then moved in the direction A and is passed through a die 11. hereby, the inner surface of the pipe 5' tightly contacts with the outer surface of the mandrel 10 and is formed into the same shape as that of the mandrel 10, so that thick- walled parts 12, 13 and formed at both ends, and the mandrel 10 is grasped by the pipe 5'. Then, a stopper 14, attached to one axial end on the mandrel-with-drawing side, is moved in the direction B for preventing the retreat motion of the pipe 5', and then, the mandrel 10 is withdrawn in the direction C out of the pipe 5'. hereupon, the diameter of thick-walled part 13 is expanded to form a bulging zone 15. The stopper 16 is opened in the direction D; a mandrel 18 in diameter equal to the inner diameter of the thick-walled part 12 is inserted into the pipe 5'; the part 13 is resumed to a thick-walled part similar to the part 12 by a die 17; finally, the stopper 16 is moved in the direction E, and the mandrel 18 is withdrawn in the direction F.
