Abstract

PURPOSE: To form the Y-type pipe joint of light weight with high accurate dimension, by filling the pipe blank being inserted into the straight pipe type die hole of the segmental die, with the high pressure liquid on purpose to bulge the pipe blank into the die hole for forming the branch pipe.
CONSTITUTION: The steel pipe made pipe blank 1 is set to the dies 3, 4, constituting the segmental die 2, so as to insert the pipe balnk 1 into the straight pipe type die hole 5. Hereupon, the branch forming die hole 6, crossing the straight pipe type die hole 5 at acute angle, is left as the vacant space. The piston rods 7, 8, are inserted into the straight pipe type die hole 5 from both sides, in order to plug both ends of the pipe blank 1 with the tips of the piston rods 7, 8. The high pressure liquid is filled up in the pipe blank 1 through the feed path 9 bored in the piston rod 7; under this condition, the working liquid pressure is impressed on the piston rods 7, 8, in order to carry out the bulging work and to push and shrink the pipe blank 1 in the axial direction. The pipe blank 1 is formed following to the straight pipe type die hole 5, and a part of the pipe blank 1 bulges into the branch pipe forming die hole 6; hereby, the branch pipe part 10 is formed.
