Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a titanium catalyst component suited for high-activity high- stereoregularity polymerization of an α-olefin, by treating a reduced solid obtained by reducing titanium tetrachloride with an organoaluminum compound with a specified electron donor and titanium tetrachloride.
CONSTITUTION: This method consists of treating a reduced solid obtained by reducing titanium tetrachloride with an organoaluminum compound with an electron donor and then contacting the treated solid with an electron donor and titanium tetrachloride in the presence of an inert solvent. In this method, the concentration of titanium tetrachloride in said inert solvent is maintained at below 1W15vol%, and at least one of the electron donors used in said treatment and said contacting is mixture containing an aliphatic ether and an aromatic ether. An said organoaluminum compounds, there are preferably used dialkylaluminum chlorides such as diethylaluminum chloride. The pretreatment of the reduced solid with an electron donor is carried out usually by maintaining the reduced solid in a state of suspension in an inert solvent.
