Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the image pickup of a stereoscopic image at a short distance, by using one camera, through making an optical signal of two transmission systems into one transmission system with usage of an optical shutter and an optical wave director. CONSTITUTION:An optical shutter 5 providing window holes 7L, 7R to a shielding plate 6 with almost equal interval as the left and right eyes of a human being, is located in front of an optical wave director 11. An alternate light of left and right from the optical wave director 11 is applied to an image pickup guide 15 by a condenser lens 14. The window holes 7L, 7R are provided with shutter plates 8L, 8R rotated by motors 9L, 9R, and an incident light is alternately switched timely and introduced to the optical wave director 11. An image pickup signal from the image pickup device 15 is mixed with a synchronizing signal from a synchronizing signal generator 17 at a mixer 18 and outputted a terminal 19. Therefore, a stereoscopic image is formed even for the object in a short distance through assuming the distance (d) of right and left pictures as the distance of human eyes.
