Abstract

PURPOSE:To remarkably enhance the separation effect of magnetic powder from a fluid, by combining an obliquely travelling-down magnetic field generator below a device for generating another travelling magnetic field involving a rotating component around the periphery of a hollow housing provided with a specified partition plate. CONSTITUTION:A rotating component-contng. travelling magnetic field f1 generator 1, comprisijg a plurality of long ring coils 12 buried in slots inclined toward the axis of the insdie surface of a magnetic cylinder 11, is located outside a hollow housing 3. An obliquely travelling-down magnetic field f2 generator 2, comprising a plurality of long ring coils 22 buried in vertical slots 23 having the same openings on the inside surface of the magnetic cylinder 11, is arranged below the first generator 1. A partition plate 7 having at least the same height as that of the generator 2 is located inside the housing 3. When the generators 1, 2 are driven, a magnetic powder-contng. fluid W0 flows through an inlet 4 and advances through a chamber N toward an outlet 6. The magnetic powder is separated by the magnetic field f1, attacted onto the inside surface of the housing, transfered toward a chamber M, dropped along the plate 7, and assuredly pushed to the bottom by the magnetic field f2.
