PURPOSE:To erase pop noise surely, by discriminating a tuning or detuning detection signal by two different levels and by starting the operation of a muting circuit of the preceding stage earlier than that of a muting circuit of the succeeding stage and by releasing the operation of the muting circuit of the preceding stage later than that of the muting circuit of the succeeding stage. CONSTITUTION:For a detuning detection signal VM which becmes high-level for detuning and becomes low-level for tuning, a discrimination level VL1 of the first muting control circuit 11 is higher than a discrimination level VL2 of the second muting control circuit 12. When the muting operation is released due to the transition from detuning to tuning, the signal VM reaches the level VL1 first, and the muting operation in a preamplifier 7 is released before the muting circuit is released, and therefore, pop noise VPOP generated in the output of the preamplifier 7 is erased by a muting circuit 10. When the muting operation is started due to the transition from tuning to detuning, the signal VM reaches the level VL2 first, and the muting operation of the preamplifier 7 is started after the operation of the muting circuit starts, and therefore, pop noise VPOP generated in the output of the preamplifier 7 is earsed by the muting circuit.
