Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a low-toxic carcinostatic agent containing a specific dithiol derivative as an active component.
CONSTITUTION: A carcinostatic agent containing the thiol derivative of formula (R1 and R2 are 1W5C alkyl) as an active component. The compound of formula has excellent effect for suppressing the tumor of warm-blooded animals, and consequently, exhibits remarkable effect to elongate the life of the affected animal. It is useful as an carcinostatic agent against various human malignant tumors, such as gastric cancer, hepatic cancer, rectal cancer, leukemia, etc. It can be administered, e.g. in the form of oral drug, suppository, injection, etc. Dose: 1W200mg/kg daily for oral administration or as a suppository, and about 0.1W20mg/kg daily for injection. Some of the compounds of formula are known as agricultural and horticultural fungicides and remedies for hepatic diseases.
