Abstract

PURPOSE:To determine a Cl ion in a urine with high accuracy, by adding a salt of alkaline earth metals to a urine to be examined, precipitating a sparingly soluble salts of coexisting anion except Cl, thereafter by measuring Cl ion with a liquid membrane type anion selection electrode using a quaternary ammonium ion. CONSTITUTION:To a urine to be tested is added a solution of salt of alkaline earth metals of 100-200mEg/l (e.g. barium acetate), and allowed to precipitate and remove a coexisting anion (SO4<2->, HCO3<-> etc.) as a sparingly soluble salt [e.g. BaSO4, Ba(HCO3)2], and the chloride ion is measured with liquid membrane type anion selection electrode utilizing a soft polyvinyl chloride membrane in which a quaternary ammonium salt is dispersed.
