Abstract
PURPOSE:To display a recorded area of a plastic recording tape, by forming a recording layer on a single surface of the plastic tape plus a layer which is discolored by heat on the other surface respectively or mixing a discoloring agent into the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer 3 composed of a mixture of nitrocellulose and carbon is laminated on a plastic tape 1 of polyester, etc. via a reflective layer 2 such as an Al foil. Then a recorded area display layer containing a discoloring agent which discolors by heat is provided on the other side of the tape 1. Otherwise the discoloring agent is dispersed into the layer 3. The layer 2 is not provided in case when the information is reproduced by a transmitting system. A mixture of tannin, etc. and Fe (III), Ni2Co, etc. of stearic acid that is discolored at about 100 deg.C lower than the melting point of the plastics of the layer 3, or crystal violet, etc. is used for the above-mentioned discoloring agent. Thus the area where the writing is carried out by the laser beam is discolored to easily discriminate the recorded area. This can prevent the double recording.
