Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a tenacious link chain excellent in wear resistance by forming a part of small sectional area at the butt welding zone of a link chain and making resistance welding.
CONSTITUTION: The butt joining zone of a link chain unit is sliced off from two directions at an angle of 0W60° to the center of diameter to make sectional area of the joining part smaller than that of other parts. Optimum welding condition is obtained by setting the length from the apex of the sliced part to 1/5W1/2 of the diameter of the chain unit and adjusting welding current to make the butt resistance welding time to 0.4W0.9sec. By this way, rupture of heat affected zone is prevented and a link chain of high strength and high tenacity can be obtained.
