PURPOSE:To keep toner density constant by providing a roller for density control which adsorbs toner according to the toner density of a developer and by removing the toner adsorbed by the roller and returning the same to a replenishment part. CONSTITUTION:A developer is adsorbed in a magnetic brush-shape onto a sleeve 9 by the magnetic force of a magnetic roll in the inside and this developer is carried to a development area oppositely facing to a photosensitive drum 1, as the sleeve 9 rotates. On the other hand, a control roller 10 for toner density control, which faces to the upstanding tufts part of the magnetic brush of the developer passed through the development area and slidingly contacts, is provided. The roller 10 is driven in the direction shown by an arrow to adsorb toner electrostatically by being applied with a bias, and also a scraper 11 for scraping the stuck toner and returning the same to a hopper 5 is provided. Consequently, the toner density is always held constant.
