Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the mechanism and operation of a device by eliminating the need for a special tool such as transparent plastics, by performing editing operation such as extraction and elimination electrically by controlling a voltage applied to the common electrode of an electrostatic latent-image forming means. CONSTITUTION:A recorder determines the common electrode of an ion-flow modulating electrode and coordinates specifying a part M of an original 16 to be extracted are inputted from a keyboard 1. After the coordinates are inputted, an extraction button 1e on the keyboard 1 is pushed and then a recording button 1a is pushed to start recording operation. Consequently, an original table or optical system starts moving and a scan in a subscanning direction is started. Further, a potential applied to the common electrode of an electrostatic latent-image forming means is controlled electrically corresponding to the position of the original to be extracted or eliminated, and consequently the mechanism and control of the device are simplified extremely, thereby eliminating the need for a special tool such as transparent plastics.
