Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the voltage applying between a brush and a commutator segment to reduce favorably the probability of generation of a spark by a method wherein the brush is made to come in contact with the commutator segment inclining the side of the brush to the progressing direction of the brush at the specified rate of inclination. CONSTITUTION:When the rate alpha=l/P of the distance l between a straight line 4 passing the start point of the side 3b of the brush and being parallel with an edge 1a of the commutator segment 1 and a straight line 5 passing the end point of the side 3b of the brush and being parallel with the edge 1a the pitch P of the commutator segment 1 is defined as the rate of inclination, at least the side 3b of the brush being the rear edge to the rotational direction 2 is cut as to make the rate of inclination to come within the range of 0.5-1.5. When the machine is to be rotated in both the directions of forward and backward, it is favorable to cut a side 3a of the brush samely, and it is also favorable to make the sides 3a, 3b to incline within the range of 0.5-1.5 inclining the brush holder without cutting the sides.
