Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain optimum pulses and perform welding of high quality by obtaining necessary pulse electric currents and pulse widths with a rectifier and a chopper, base current with a rectifier, a transformer and the 1st current limiter, and superposed currents with a rectifier and the 2nd current limiter.
CONSTITUTION: An input electric power source is applied to a transformer 11 for welding, by which it is transformed to required voltage. This voltage is rectified by a rectifier 12 and is smoothed by a capacitor 13. The smoothed DC voltage is applied via the 2nd current limiter 18 between an electrode 8 and base metals 9 to flow the superposed current of large drooping having high no-load voltage. A 3- phase half wave rectifier circuit consisting of the diodes D1, D2, D3 of the rectifier 12 applies said voltage via the 1st current limiter 16 between the electrodes 8 and the base metals 9 to flow the base current of small drooping under low no-load voltage. The conduction of a chopper 14 is set at the pulse width and pulse current of the range optimum for pulse arcs by a controller 15. Thereby, the optimum pulse arc welding is accomplished.
