Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect surely phenomena in the sample cell other than density with a simple constitution by utilizing a light source and detector for measuring the density in the liquid analyzer and thereby catching the phenomena in the cell according to the lowering of incident luminous energy into the detector. CONSTITUTION:The liquid analyzer comprises the light source 1 for measuring density, the detector 2, the sample cell 3, etc. When the surface of washing water or sampling water crosses an optical path in the sample cell 3, the incident luminous energy into the detector 2 decreases owing to surface scattering, and when a sample is injected, the incident luminous energy into the detector 2 also decreases owing to the nonuniformity of refractive index caused by the difference in the distribution of density which occurs in the process of mixture of the sample with the water. Therefore, based on the change in output due to these decreases, whether or not the operation of each process is completed can be ascertained. In this way, by a simple constitution for which the components of the analyzer are used, phenomena in the sample cell other than the information of density can be detected surely.
