Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide superior agitating and mixing ability with high viscosity liquids and gellike compositions as well by providing helical ribbon vane and paddle vane agitators respectively on the outside circumferential surface and inside of the concentrical guide cylinder in a tank. CONSTITUTION:High viscosity fluid is filled in a cylindrical tank body 1, and driving shafts 2, 7 are rotated mutually in opposite directions as shown by arrows. In the outside circumferential part of the tank inside, downward axial flow is induced together with swirling flow in the axial direction of the vanes in the fluid by the pump effect created by the rotation of a helical ribbon vane 5 between the inside circumferential wall of the tank and a guide cylinder 4. The liquid flows into the cylinder 4 from its bottom end and tries to form upward circulating flow while swirling in the rotating direction of the cylinder 4. On the other hand, a paddle vane 8 is rotating in an opposite direction in the cylinder 4 and therefore, the above- mentioned swirling flow is disturbed by bafflelike effect, and is converted to upward axial flow, whereby the upward flow is much more intensified. Hence, the liquid is largely circulated in the form of convection in the axial direction while swirling as a whole, and is thereby well agitated.
