Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the generation of blooming by a method wherein a grid for speed reducing purposes is provided on the main lens side of a triode consisting of a cathode, a control grid and an acclerating grid to apply voltage changing in inverse proportion to the amount of electrons radiated from the cathode. CONSTITUTION:A grid 6 for speed reducing purposes is provided on the main lens ML side of a triode consisting of a cathode 2, a control grid electrode 3 and an accelerating grid electrode 5. Then only an outside electron beam portion B' as an outside hull of the electron beam that has crossed an electron beam axis on this side of a pre-focus lens sent from the cathode 2 is again allowed to cross the electron beam axis. In this case, the assumed transmitting point P3 of the electron passing through a beam passage B3 is transferred toward the main lens ML further than the assumed transmitting point P1 of the electron passing through a beam passage B1. Therefore, the generation of blooming due to spherical aberration can be reduced to a greater extent.
