Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a highly reliable coaxial waveguide converter with excellent mechanical and electrical characteristics by incorporating one side of the broad face of a waveguide into part of the metal container of a traveling-wave tube. CONSTITUTION:In a traveling-wave tube 1, a helix 6 is supported by three dielectric rods 7 in a metal cylindrical container 5 and an internal conductor 9 is attached to the collector end surface of the helix 6 to lead a high frequency output to a waveguide 2. In addition, one end of the internal conductor 9 is connected to the helix 6 and its other end is allowed to play a role in the waveguide 2, as an antenna for transmitting an electromagnetic wave. Further one side of the broad surface of the waveguide 2 is brazed on a container 5 in the portion 13 specified for brazing. The sealing of the traveling-wave tube 1 with airtightness is made by ceramics 12 filled up in the waveguide 12. Due to this, a highly reliable waveguide converter can be obtained.
