Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate AGC at a reception side by separating a pulse signal into a high-frequency and a low-frequency component, by adding a constant DC signal to the high-frequency component, and by converting both the components into different optical signals to be transmitted. CONSTITUTION:A pulse signal applied from an input terminal 1 is separated into a high-frequency and a low-frequency component by a high-pass filter 2 and a low- pass filter 3 and after a DC signal 22 is added to the high-frequency component, the resulting signal is converted through light emitting elements 5 and 6 into an optical signal, which is transmitted from a transmission side 18 to a reception side 21 through optical fibers 6 and 7. At the reception side, it is converted into an electric signal by photodetecting elements 8 and 9 and the DC signal is extracted through a low-pass filter 11 to control the gains of AGC amplifiers 14 and 16. The outputs of the AGC amplifiers 14 and 16 are synthesized by a broad-band amplifier 19 to reproduce the pulse signal.
