PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which excels in the magnetic properties, the video properties and the aging stability, by adding a polymer of <=100 degrees of polymerization and having the polarity functional group to form a magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:About 1-30mol carboxyl group, hydroxyl group, sulfonic acid group, etc. are added into the molecule, and a polymer (like a low molecular weight copolymer of acrylic acid ester and acrylic acid) of <=100 average degrees of polymerization is used. In other words, the ferrormagnetic material powder [such as Fe (alloy) powder] is dipped into the above-mentioned polymer solution and then dried, and about 0.1-10wt% polymer is stuck to the ferrormagnetic material powder. After this, the treated ferrormagnetic material powder, binder (such as acrylic acid ester-acrylonitrile copolymer having about <=150 deg.C softing temperature and about 100-1,000 degrees of polymerization), solvent and other additives are mixed up to obtain a magnetic pating.
