Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform proper welding without dislocation between both plates by providing detecting sensors which respectively detect weld line positions and gap width on both sides of the objects to be welded, setting welding conditions based on the signals thereof, and performing electron beam welding.
CONSTITUTION: Detecting sensors 12 are provided on both sides of the objects 11 to be welded. The gap width detecting signals 13 by these are inputted to a groove gap feedback control device 14, which calculates the required amount of a welding rod 24 and feeds the signal thereof to a wire feeder 17. The beam current acceleration voltage corresponding to the gap width and the wire feed rate is inputted from an electron gun control device 18 to an electron gun 19, and the oscillation width is inputted from a device 20 to a parallel deflecting electron lens 21. On the other hand, the weld line position detecting signals 15 are inputted to a seam tracking control device 16, which determines the rate of deflection of the electron beam and inputs the same from an electron beam deflector 22 to the lens 21 and an angular deflecting electron lens 23. By the above, the proper welding is accomplished.
