Abstract

PURPOSE: To purify α-glucosyl stevioside by adsorption, keeping the ratios of the stevioside content and the sum of the stevioside content and the α-glucosyl stevioside content to the saturated adsorption of the adsorbent resin at specific levels.
CONSTITUTION: In the separation of α-glucosyl stevioside and stevioside from an aqueous solution containing both components with a nonpolar or a moderately polar synthetic adsorbent (e.g. a porous polymeric resin having macro-network structure), stevioside is selectively adsorbed to the resin by keeping the stevioside content in said solution below the saturated adsorption of the resin and the total content of the stevioside and α-glucosyl stevioside in the solution above the saturated adsorption of the resin, and contacting the solution of the resin at an SV value of 0.1W2. The α-glucosyl stevioside can be obtained from the aqueous solution left after the adsorption treatment.
