Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the revolution speed of an atomizing head by a method wherein a revolution speed controlling part is provided in a passage for supplying air for driving an air motor which drives an atomizing head to rotate, a beam of light is projected to a reflecting surface of the rotating shaft of the motor, and the reflected light is transmitted to a light receiving member in the controlling part through an optical fiber.
CONSTITUTION: When air for driving is supplied from an air source to the air motor 2, the rotary shaft 2a starts rotating and the atomizing head 1 is also rotated. When a light-emitting element is turned ON, a beam of light is transmitted to the motor 2 through the optical fiber 14 and is projected onto the locus of the rotation of the reflecting plate 13. When the reflecting plate 13 is rotated with the rotary shaft 2a, the plate 13 reaches the position faced to a focusing part 14a of the optical fiber 14 at a frequency of once per one complete rotation of the shaft 2a, when the reflected light reaches a light receiving and amplifying device 9. With the revolution speed of the rotary shafts 2a thus detected, pneumatic pressure is controlled by an air servo device 6 to obtain a predetermined revolution speed for the atomizing head.
