Abstract

PURPOSE:To quickly detect the failure of a compressor and bring the compressor inoperative to protect the cooling apparatus for vehicle from getting worse by a method wherein a flow meter is provided in a refrigerant piping and the changing- over of an operating unit from or to operated state to or from unoperated state is performed according to the signal from the flow meter. CONSTITUTION:The flow meter 10 provided in the refrigerant piping 13, a suction temperature detecting part 14, a suction pressure detecting part 15, a discharge pressure detecting part 16 and a condensing temperature detecting part 17 are connected to the operating unit 22. Because the locked state of the compressure 7 is indicated by the lower oscillation frequency (b) of the flow meter 10 than the set value L1 in the low region side and the state of the lack of gas in the compressure 7 is indicated by the higher oscillation frequency (b) than the set value L2 in the high region side, when either of the states mentioned above occurs, the operating unit 22 cuts off an electromagnetic clutch 18 to prevent the driving power from being transmitted to the compressor 7 and as well as indictes the alarm in an indicating part 23.
