Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out physically and chemically strong bonding, and to use it as an artificial tooth, etc., by fusing porous glass powder to glass or glass ceramic, subjecting the glass or glass ceramic to a proper surface treatment, e.g., silane treatment, etc., followed by polymerizing and curing a resin on the glass fused surface.
CONSTITUTION: In bonding glass or glass ceramic to a resin, porous glass powder (preferably one obtained by heat-treating glass liable to phase separation, e.g., borosilicate glass to that it is subjected to phase separation, followed by treating an easily acid-soluble phase with an acid to dissolve and to remove it) is fused to the glass or the glass ceramic, the glass powder fused surface is treated with silane, and a resin is polymerized and cured on the surface treated with silane. Silane may be blended with the resin, which may be polymerized and cured on the surface of the porous glass. This method has improved effects on a position which needs strong bonding between glass or glass ceramic and a resin or a place in water.
