Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a compact measuring tape device for both manual and electrical drive by containing an electric motor and a power transmission mechanism in a handle for manual winding of a measuring tape and adding a clutch mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A clutch mechanism for changing over of winding of a measuring tape to either manual or electrical drive is provided, and for example, an electric motor is contained in a grip for manual winding handle, and a power transmission mechanism in a handle respectively. For instance, at the time of operating the device by the electrical drive, the rotation of the motor contained in the grip 4 of the handle is transmitted to the winding drum of a measuring tape 14 by a reduction gear contained in a handle 9 via the clutch. On the other hand, when a manual- electric changeover slider 11 is changed over to the manual side, the above-mentioned clutch is disengaged, and the handle part is fixed to the above-mentioned drum, whereby manual winding is made possible. Thereby, the compact measuring tape device that permits smooth changeover of the electric and manual drive is obtained.
