Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the trouble in scrubbing and circulating water systems and to facilitate the handling of sediment by introducing the thermally cracked gases produced during treatment of municipal refuse and the like into a scrubbing tower after removing solid particles, and lowering the viscosity of the sediment such as oils and tar settling in the scrubbing tower.
CONSTITUTION: The thermally cracked gases formed a fluidized bed thermal cracking furnace 1 are removed of the greater part of solid particles by a cyclone 2. Thence, the remaining solids and part of oil contents are removed by the fluidized bed 17 of a dry type dust remover 4, thereafter they are conducted via a heat exchanger 10 to a wet type cooling and scrubbing tower 7, where the oil contents and tar contents in the gases are condensed and settled by cooling and scrubbing. Thereby, the production of tacky materials is obviated because no solids are included in the sediment. On the other hand, the fluid media of the bed 17 captured the solids and part of the oil contents are supplied to a combustion furnace 3, where the solids and oil are burned, thereafter, the gases are again returned into the furnace 1.
