Abstract
PURPOSE: To considerably reduce the amount of industrial water for washing, to almost prevent silica from mixing, and to reduce the size of an apparatus by washing a cake layer obtd. by press-dehydrating the minus mesh part of a conc. Mg (OH)2 slurry.
CONSTITUTION: An Mg(OH)2 slurry obtd. by the reaction of decarboxylated seawater with slaked lime or milk of lightly burned dolomite is concd. to ≥100g/l solid concn. with a thickener or the like, fed to a vibrating screen apparatus 2 from a pipe 1, and screened with a screen 3 having ≤44μm mesh. The preferred screen 3 is a vibrating screen provided with a controller 6 and discharging the plus mesh by closing a valve A and opening a valve B from the viewpoint of capacity and efficiency. As the mesh of the screen is made smaller, the purity of a product is increased, so the mesh is decided according to the purity. The slurry freed of solid impurities is then dehydrated with a press dehydrator under ≥0.5kg/cm2 pressure to remove impurities such as Ca ion. The resulting cake is washed by injecting water. By blowing compressed air into the washed cake, the water content of the cake can be lowered.
