CONSTITUTION:An FM demodulator 12 which detects and demodulates the reproduced FM-modulated wave of a composite video sigal from a fixed head type VTR, a low-pass filter (LPF)16 which permits the signal component of a demodulated signal supplied from the demodulator 12 to pass through it, and a dropout detecting circuit 17 which detects a dropout in a reproduced signal are provided. In response to the dropout detection signal of the detecting circuit 17, the wave detecting function of the demodulator 12 is stopped and the LPF16 smooths a noise signal in a dropout period TD.
