Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish a rapid change of rotary direction of the output shaft without changing the rotary direction of the input shaft by meshing a driven gear of the output shaft with a pair of driving gears installed through each electromagnetic clutch to the input shaft.
CONSTITUTION: An input shaft 4 is supported by a pair of bearing assemblies 3 fixed to outside surfaces of a support structure 2 on the base 1. A pair of electromagnetic clutches 6, 7 each consisting of a stater 8, rotor 9 and an amateur 10 are installed inside the support structure 2. Fixed to each amateur 10 are respective driving bevel gears 13 facing each other. Above the center of the input shaft 4 and supported by a bearing assembly 16 is an output shaft 17, and fitted to the lower end of this shaft 1s a driven bevel gear 18 which is meshed with the driving bevel gears 13. The ON-OFF control made to the pair of clutches 6, 7 switches over the rotary direction of output shaft 17 with the input shaft 4 rotating in one direction.
