Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce heat generation and power consumption of an ROM, by storing the contents of the ROM in an RAM under the control of a controlling circuit after the electric power is supplied and before the RAM is used, and then, unconnecting the connection of the ROM and controlling the use of the ROM by a portable type digital communication equipment. CONSTITUTION:To a CPU201 constituted with a microcomputer, an RAM202 functioning as a main storage part controlled by the CPU201 is connected, and then, a controlling circuit 204 which is connected to an ROM203 which stores programs which specifies control of the CPU201, is connected. Moreover, an ROM unconnecting circuit 205 is connected between the controlling circuit 204 and the RAM202. The controlling circuit 204 detects that the electric power is supplied to the CPU201, and writes the contents of the ROM203 into the RAM202 in every word. The circuit 204 confirms that the content of the ROM203 is written into the RAM202 up to the most suitable address, and the connection to the ROM203 is unconnected by the circuit 205, and thus the use of the ROM203 is controlled and heat generation and power consumption of the ROM203 are reduced.
