Abstract

PURPOSE: To seperate foreign materials from powdered and granular bodies in a high productivity without controlling the water quantity contained in the bodies, by covering the surface of a roll or a endless belt with electric insulating coatings.
CONSTITUTION: Corona ions are discharged from a corona discharging electrode 2 to a roll 1 side, grounded with grounding wire 8, in order to charge materials A on the roll 1 producing an electrostatic force between the roll 1 and the electrode 2 through an insulating coating 10. Therefore, foreign materials such as glass etc. drop into a hopper 6 for foreign matters tracing an arrow line E, shown in the fig., because of its weak adhesive force to the roll 1 and its large specific gravity and; on the contrary, composts drops into a product hopper 5 after moving along the arrow line F or G, shown in the fig., because of its adhesive property to the roll 1 and a strong electrostatic attractive force affected on it to the roll 1. Besides, the attractive force of the roll 1 to it is lost when its water contents exceeds 30W40%, so that the seperation is performed while drying the surface of the roll 1 by a dryer 9 provided at the rear side of a brush 7.
