PURPOSE: The titled composition, containing a novel N-(α,α-dialkylbenzyl)phenylacetamide derivative and a diphenyl ethereal herbicide, and capable of exhibiting a synergistic effect on all the weeds without toxicity to paddy-rice plants in a low small amount of the agent.
CONSTITUTION: A herbicidal composition containing a novel compound N-(α,α- dialkylbenzyl)phenylacetamide derivative of the formula (X1 and X2 are halogen, 1W3C alkyl, 1W3C alkoxyl or H; R1 is 1W3C alkoxyl or H; R2 is 1W3C alkyl, 2W6C alkoxyalkyl, allyl or H; R3 and R4 are 1W4C alkyl; n is 1W3, except when R1 and R2 are H and R3 and R4 are CH3) and a diphenyl ethereal herbicide, e.g. 2,4,6-trichlorophenyl-4'-nitrophenyl ether, as active consitutents. The herbicide is capable of weeding annual and perennial weeds from the time of ungermination to an advanced growth completely and for a long term.
