Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a weld zone of good quality and function by providing a front shield part in front of the direction of advance of a welding torch and further providing another shield part around it and thereby making shield effect nearly perfect.
CONSTITUTION: A front shield part 6 on the side of advance of a welding torch 2 and an after shield part 7 on the opposite side are installed in one body on the body of a box 8. Further, shield parts 11 of gas curtain system are provided in front and on both sides of the body of the box. By this, an electrode wire 3 and molten pool 17 are shielded perfectly by shield gas from the torch 2 and shield gas from shield parts 6, 7, 11 when the welding torch moves, and entry of air is prevented. Accordingly, welding is performed in shield gas atmosphere and harmful N etc. is not dissolved in the weld metal. Thus, a weld bead 13 of good quality can be obtained.
