Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the lowering of S/N of a picture signal due to reduction of the number of quantitizing levels in an estimate coding transmission, by inserting the continuous specific transmission code into a transmission line at the synchronous signal section of a video signal and then performing the initialization of an estimator at the decoding side. CONSTITUTION:An estimate coding part A' consists of a quantitizer 12, an estimator 13 that performs an initialization by a synchronous signal (SYN), and a switching circuit 17 that switches the output (picture signal) of a transmission encoder 16 in the synchronous signal section to a continuous specific transmission code (RSTCODE) to transmit it to a transmission line 20. While an estimate decoding part B' consist of a transmission decoder 23, a detector 24 of the continuous sepcific transmission code, and an estimator 21 that performs an initialization by the output (RS) of the detector 24. In such constitution, one of the quantitizing levels for estimate can be eliminated for initialization of the estimator in the estimate coding transmission of a video signal. Thus an increase of the estimate error is avoided.
