Abstract
PURPOSE:To shorten physical development time remarkably, to extend a storage life of a developing solution, and to obtain an intensified image superior in color tone at an expense of a small amount of silver, by using a Co(NH3)6Cl3 complex salt and a very small amount of a complex formation agent. CONSTITUTION:An image having sufficient image density and gradation, and a brilliant black color intensified with a Co metal is obtained by physical development in a short time even at an expense of 10mg/m<2> silver, using a Co(III) complex, such as Co(NH3)6Cl3 and a very small amount of a complex formation agent, such as gluconic acid, tartaric acid, or the like organic acid, or alkanolamine in a molar ratio of 1:<=3, preferably 1:(0.001-0.1), thus permitting the physical development solution to produce no precipitation, its storage life to be extended, and an image to be efficiently intensified at a sufficiently high speed without using any physical development accelerator.
