Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the room temperature to rise quickly by a method wherein when a heating operation is switched to high and low modes in accordance with the variation of the room temperature, the above two-mode thermo operation is made ineffective transitionally in case the heating operation is started from a low temperature.
CONSTITUTION: In a cooling cycle formed by a compressor 1, a four way valve 2, an indoor heat exchanger 3, an outdoor heat exchanger 5 and an expansion valve 4 connected to one another through a piping system, the capacity of the compressor 1 is switched in two setps by, for example, opening and closing an electromagnetic valve 6. Such switching of the compressor capacity is made in accordance with the relative increase or decrease of the room temperature and in this case, an additional reference temperature T0 is set at a point below a reference temperature T11 at which the heating operation is switched from low to high. Thus, when the heating operation is started from a temperature below the reference temperature T0 and also when a high heating operation temperature which is higher than the reference temperature T0 drops down below the latter, the high heating operation is kept continued until the temperature again reaches a predetermined temperature T22, even after the heating operation enters the low heating operation zone from the high heating operation zone.
