Abstract

PURPOSE:To very effectively crush and wash plastic containers irrespective of their configurations, sizes and hardness, by breaking the plastic containers transversely into pieces, washing the pieces, and crushing the pieces into fine particles. CONSTITUTION:Plastic containers are fed into a hopper 1 and broken by a breaker 3 transversely into pieces. The dirt, sand and others adhered to the pieces are separated therefrom by an oscillating screen 4, and pieces of paper or others adhered to the plastic pieces are separated by blast at an air separator 7 by a blower 8. The broken plastic pieces are washed in a washing tank 11, and the broken pieces and sand, dirt and others adhered thereto are separated in a separating tank 17. The broken pieces from which the foreign matters have been removed are sent to a crusher 19 where they are crushed by the rotating blades into particles. Thus, as the containers are broken transversely, the removal of the labels stuck thereto are facilitated, and the removal of the foreign matters during the washing can be very effectively carried out.
