Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve power-supply efficiency by using giant pulses generated from pulse-modulation made on a semi conduct LASER by means the energy charged in a capacitor.
CONSTITUTION: If an ignition command signal "a" is applied to an invertor 1141, the polarity is reversed and a transistor Q1 is ON and OFF through a resistance R1. The transistor Q1 turns from ON to OFF when the ignition command signal "a" reaches 1 level. If the transistor Q1 is set OFF, a transistor Q2 turns ON, and the energy charged in a capacitor 113 is supplied to the semiconductor LASER which generates giant pulses having peak-to-peak valve of approximately 20kw and pulse duration of approximately 10 microseconds. Thus, the generation of giant pulses can provide better power-wupply efficiency as compared with the use of gas LASER such as CO2 LASER, and Solid LASER.
