Abstract

PURPOSE: To continuously perform the prebending and hemming on flanged portions with the side and upper faces of a bend edge so that the working efficiency may be improved, by supporting the upper surface of working subjects by lowering the base and by advancing the bend edge obliquely from a position below the flanged part.
CONSTITUTION: An outer panel 14A and an inner panel 14B are put one upon another and positioned horizontally above a receiving the table 13 installed on a table 12. Then, a cylinder 17 is operated and its head 16 is lowered along a guide rod 15. When the head 16 touches the upper surface of the outer panel 14A, the cylinder stops its movement. At this time, another cylinder 19 is operated and a bend edge 20 advances obliquely upward at an advancing angle θ. As the bend edge 20 advances, its prebending part 20A presses the end of a flanged part 14C bent almost at a right angle. After bending the flanged part 14C to an acute angle, the main bending part 20B of the bend edge 20 bends the flanged part 14C further so that the whole surface of the flanged part 14C may closely contact to the lower surface of the inner panel 14B and the inner panel 14B may be held between the outer panel 14A. Thus the hemming work is completed.
