Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a water foaming sealing material impregnated with a water foaming agent uniformly and efficiently, with the mechanization, by feeding half of the water foaming agent to a mold recess (cavity), filling the recess (cavity) with a foaming elastomer, and feeding the remaining water foaming agent onto the foaming elastomer.
CONSTITUTION: A half amount of a water foaming agent 7, e.g. an isocyanate solution, is fed to a recess (cavity) of a die 4, and a foaming elastomer 6 (sponge) is filled into the recess (cavity). The remaining amount of the water foaming agent 7 is then fed onto the foaming elastomer 6, and the elastomer 6 is then compressed by a male mold (punch) 5. The sponge 6 absorbs the surrounding water foaming agent 7 on releasing from the compression to give the aimed water foaming sealing material. If the viscosity of the water foaming agent 7 exceeds 0.3 poise, the compression and the releasing therefrom are preferably carried out twice or more. A clearance of 0.1mm designed between the inside dimension of the recess (cavity) of the die 4 and the outside dimension of the punch 5 permits only the expulsion of air in the sponge 6 without flooding the water foaming agent 7 in compression.
