Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the adding effect of calcium carbonate particles on paper, etc. by adding specified basic aluminum chloride to an aqueous dispersion of calcium carbonate to coat the calcium carbonate particles with aluminum hydroxide.
CONSTITUTION: Basic aluminum chloride represented by the formula (where x is 0W2) is added to an aqueous dispersion contg. calcium carbonate to coat the calcium carbonate particles with aluminum hydroxide. To said dispersion may be added other component besides calcium carbonate according to the use, e.g., pulp in case of paper making or a noionic dispersant, etc. in case of water paint, water- base ink and an aqueous adhesive, and after adding basic aluminum chloride to modity the calcium carbonate particles, the dispersion may be fed to the next process as it is.
