Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a coated surface of excellent quality by properly controlling the particle size distribution and average particle size of atomized particle of coating material by providing 2 or more kinds of grooves different in depth and width in the material discharging end provided in front of a paint discharging body of a rotating atomizer for an electrostatic coating. CONSTITUTION:At the atomizing of liquid paint into fine particles and electrically charging said particles by a rotating atomizer for an electrostatic coating, the mean particle size and particle size distribution are properly controlled in order to form a coated surface of excellent quality. For this purpose, a material discharging port 6 is provided at the central part of a rotating paint discharging body 8 combinedly used as an electrode for an electrical charging, and a material discharging end 12 is formed at the annular peripheral edge at the tip of the body 8. The material flow in a filmy state along the inner surface 11 of the body 8 from the port 6, and successively flow through 2 or more kinds of grooves composed of wide and deep grooves 15 and, narrow and shallow grooves 17 etc., and being arranged these grooves to be mixed with one another; in the discharging end 12. The atomized and discharged material consists of properly mixed fine particles of large and small size, so that a coated surface of excellent quality is formed.
