Abstract
PURPOSE: To ensure a safety drive by energizing a safety circuit through switching operation of electrode members in response to gripping action of a steering wheel.
CONSTITUTION: A first electrode member 10 which is a lacing yarn for the outer periphery of a cover 11 of a steering wheel body S made of insulating materials, is connected to a contact 15 of a relay 14, and a second electrode member 12 which is another lacing yarn for the inner periphery of the cover 11, is connected to a switch 21 associating with an ignition key. When a parking brake is actuated while the ignition key is switched on, the switch 21 makes contact with a contact 22. In this state, when the steering wheel body S is gripped through the cover 11, the contact 15 makes contact with a contact point 16 so as to illuminate a parking brake actuation indicating lamp 25 without a buzzer 26 sounding. When the parking brake is returned to its inoperative position while the ignition key is switched on, the switch 24 is separated from the contact point 16'. Therefore, when the gripping action is released from the steering wheel, the contact 15 makes contact with a contact point 17, thereby to sound the buzzer 26 for giving a warning.
