Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain dual thrust without lowering load rate of propellant grains by dividing motor case into plural of chambers with a separator extending in a direction of an axis of the motor case and by loading the chambers with solid propellant grains of different combustion speeds.
CONSTITUTION: Motor case 2 having nozzle at its one end is divided into four chambers 9W12 with a separator 8 having a cruciform section. In chamber 9 and 11, which are at a symmetrical position, are loaded with end burning solid prolellant grain 13 of particular burning rate, while in chamber 10 and 12, which also are at a symmetrical position, are loaded with end burning solid propellant grain 14 of different burning rate from that of grain 13. Grain 13 and 14 are covered with liner 16 and heat resisting material 15. In operation, igniter 17 ignites both grains 13 and 14 to obtain thrust from burning of grains 13 and 14. As burning rates of grains 13 and 14 are different, dual thrust can be obtained.
