Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the change of the capacity of an exhaust turbine and improve the performance of a supercharger within a wide range of revolution speed, by providing a flexible movable partition wall which can be moved back and forth in guide grooves provided on both the sides of the volute passage of the nozzleless radial turbine.
CONSTITUTION: Guide grooves 21 are provided on the inside surfaces of both side walls which constitute a volute casing 20, so that the guide grooves 21 extend along a volute passage 14. A movable partition wall 22 is provided so that it is normally put in a housing 23 and can be moved back and forth in the guide grooves 21. The guide grooves 21 extend along the entire volute passage 14 from its butt At to its tip 15 and communicate with the housing 23 provided halfway at the inlet part 13 of the volute passage 14. The movable partition wall 22 is made of a thin elastic sheet and is moved back and forth by drive rollers 24 actuated depending on the rotational frequency of an engine. Normally, the partition wall 22 is vortically deformed and put in the housing 23.
