Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the image quality having proper densities free from any photographic fog by determining the exposure at the image exposing based on the inclination of the characteristics of the exposure surface potential of a photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION:The potential on a photoreceptor 1 is detected with a potential sensor 7 between a full surface exposure lamp 4 and a developing electrode 5, and the output of a high voltage transformer 9 is regulated. Next,exposure is performed by changing the exposure of an original exposure lamp 11 irradiating a standard white plate 10 other than an image area. The reflected light from the white plate 10 is conducted via mirrors 12, 13 onto the photoreceptor 1, and the potentials corresponding to the respective exposure thereof are detected respectively with the sensor 7. A circuit 8 controls a lamp lighting circuit 14 based on the detection signals thereof in such a way that the white ground potential attains a target value. Again the white 10 is irradiated by the lamp 11 lighted by the output of the circuit 14, and the formed potential is detected. The voltge adequate for prevention of photographic fogs is applied to a developing electrode 5.
