The printing wires 21 and 23 are led to a solenoid 26 through a wire guide 24 and a casing 25. By driving the solenoid 26, the printing wires 21 and 23 are pushed out, and when the printing wire 21 and the segment 22 are made to strike at a platen 35 through a ribbon 33 and a paper 34, printing is executed. Thus pushed out printing wires 21 and 23 are returned by a spring 27. By selecting a solenoid to be driven, the printing of a letter symbol is performed by a dot matrix and the printing of a straight line is performed by the segment.
