Abstract
PURPOSE:To impart permanent antistatic properties, stain resistance, etc. to vinyl chloride resin molded articles, by modifying the surface properties of said molded articles by subjecting them to ultraviolet irradiation treatment in an atmosphere contg. a halogen gas and oxygen. CONSTITUTION:The surfaces of vinyl chloride resin molded articles are treated by irradiating them with ultraviolet having a wavelength of 200nm or shorter in an atmosphere contg. a halogen gas (at least one member selected from halogen, hydrogen halide and organohalogen compd.) having a partial pressure of s torr or higher and oxygen having a partial pressure of 15 torr or higher. When a 300w low pressure argon / mercury lamp is used, treating time of 1-60min is sufficient for the above treatment. When the irradiated surface of the molded article is contacted with halogen and/or a hologenated hydrocarbon after the above treatment, a remarkable effect can further be obtd.
